Snowflake
Coming soon
Let your assistants ask read-only questions of your Snowflake warehouse from chat. Queries never change data. Coming soon.
On this page
Snowflake is a data warehouse. Once you connect it, your assistants can ask it questions in plain language and bring back the answer, such as revenue by month or the most active customers.
Which assistants use it#
| Assistant | Status |
|---|---|
| Coder | Available |
| Accountant | Coming soon |
The Coder is the only persona available today. The Accountant is Coming soon.
What assistants can do#
Snowflake connects through a managed server in your own account, and it is read only.
| Ability | How it runs |
|---|---|
| Ask questions of your warehouse | Reads on its own (queries run read only) |
| Anything that would change or delete data | Never run from chat |
Setup (when it opens)#
- In Snowflake, create a managed server for assistants to use. Copy its address.
- Create a role that can only read the data you want to share, and make a programmatic access token for a user with that role.
- Open Integrations in StellarFirm and pick Snowflake.
- Paste the token and your server address. Snowflake is one of two tools that need both, because every account has its own address.
- Switch on the live option and press Connect.
Permissions#
- Queries run with the role you gave the token. A read-only role means the assistants can read only the tables you chose.
- Nothing here waits for an Approve because nothing here changes data. Anything that would write is never run from chat.
- Revoke the token in Snowflake whenever you want to cut access.
Good to know#
- The role does the real protecting. Give it only the schemas the assistants need.
- Name the table, the period, and the measure you care about. "Revenue by month this quarter" is a much better question than "how are we doing".
- Answers are only as good as your tables. If a number looks wrong, ask the assistant to show the query logic so you can check it.
Prompts to try#
PromptRevenue by month Accountant, what was revenue by month this quarter? Read only.
PromptExplore a table Coder, describe the columns in [table] and show me five example rows. Do not change anything.
PromptCheck a number Coder, count the new sign-ups per week for the last eight weeks and tell me if anything looks off.
