Asana is where many teams plan their work. Once you connect it, your assistants can read your projects and tasks, so they know what is open, what is blocked, and what to pick up next.

What assistants can do#

Asana connects through the tool's own hosted connector, and it is read only.

AbilityHow it runs
Read projectsReads on its own
Read tasksReads on its own
Anything that would create or update a taskNever run from chat

Setup (when it opens)#

  1. In Asana, open the developer area and create a personal access token.
  2. Open Integrations in StellarFirm.
  3. Pick Asana.
  4. Paste the token, switch on the live option, and press Connect.

Permissions#

  • The assistants see the projects and tasks that the token's owner can see.
  • Nothing here waits for an Approve because nothing here changes data. Creating or updating tasks is never run from chat.
  • Delete the token in Asana whenever you want to cut access.

Good to know#

  • Name the project in your message. "The launch project" works better than "my tasks".
  • The assistants read; they do not tick off tasks. If a task is done, update it in Asana yourself.
  • During a coding session the Coder gets read-only tools for Asana, so it can check the task while it builds.

Prompts to try#

PromptSee what is blocked

Product owner, list the open tasks in [project] and tell me what is blocked and why.

PromptPick up a task

Coder, read the Asana task [task name], implement it, and open a pull request for review after I Approve.

PromptWeekly check

Read the open tasks in [project] and give me a five-line status I can paste into a team update. Read only.
