Accessibility

StellarFirm is for everyone who works

If something is hard for you to see, hear, say, reach or read, you can change StellarFirm to fit you. You choose what you need, and we turn on the right settings.

Last reviewed 4 November 2026.

What we aim for

We design and test StellarFirm to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. Every new screen is built to that bar, and we check it with a keyboard, a screen reader and automatic tests.

Accessibility is part of StellarFirm for every person and every plan. There is no switch to unlock and nothing to pay for.

How to open the accessibility options

The options are never more than one step away. You can use any of these:

  • At the top of every page. Press Tab: the first or second stop is Accessibility options, right beside the link that skips to the content. A screen reader meets it before the rest of the page.
  • The Accessibility button. It is in the header of this site and at the bottom of the side bar in the app.
  • The keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+0. It works on every page, except while you are typing in a text field. On a Mac, hold Option and Shift.
  • Settings, then Accessibility. The same options, with room to look at them slowly.

Tell us what would help

The first time you open the app on a device, we ask whether StellarFirm would work better for you another way. You can say no. You can also answer later, from the options at any time.

Tick what fits you and we turn on the settings that usually help. You can change any of them one by one afterwards.

  • I'm blind or I use a screen reader. A screen reader hears when an answer is ready and when a step waits for your Approve. Focus is easier to see.
  • Text and buttons are hard to see. Bigger text, more contrast, a font made to be easy to read, underlined links, solid surfaces and a stronger focus outline.
  • I see some colours differently. Links are underlined, and a status dot gets a shape and a word where one is marked for it. Some status colours do not have a word or shape yet.
  • I'm deaf or hard of hearing. Every sound also shows on screen, and captions are on wherever a video has them.
  • Speaking is hard for me. Nothing in StellarFirm needs your voice. Everything you can say, you can type. The voice features are optional.
  • Using a mouse, touch screen or keyboard is hard for me. Larger buttons and links, and a stronger focus outline.
  • Reading or keeping focus is hard for me. An easy-to-read font, more space between letters and lines, underlined links and a calm screen with no decoration.
  • Movement on screen makes me feel unwell. Animations stop, and the calm screen hides pets and moving backgrounds. We also follow your device's own setting for less motion.

Using StellarFirm your way

With a screen reader

Pages have landmarks, headings in order and labelled controls, so you can move by region or by heading. A screen reader says when an answer is ready, when a step waits for your Approve and when something fails. It does not read an answer word by word while it is being written.

With a keyboard

Everything you can do with a mouse you can do with the keyboard. Focus is always visible, windows keep focus inside until you close them and return it when you do, and nothing traps you.

With a voice, or with no voice

If you like to talk, the voice features are there. If you cannot or would rather not, you never need them: every task, answer and Approve works by typing.

With sound, or with no sound

No part of StellarFirm needs you to hear. With visual alerts on, each sound also shows on screen. With captions on, videos that have captions show them.

Read aloud

You can have an answer, or the page you are on, read aloud. Read aloud uses your browser's own voices, and you pick the speed. It is off until you turn it on. If you use a screen reader you may not need it, and it is never turned on for you.

What the assistants build is accessible too

Pages, apps, lessons, games, dashboards, emails, documents and figures that StellarFirm assistants make for you are made accessible by default, to WCAG 2.2 level AA. That covers apps made for students and customers, and apps made with Lovable. The assistants use real buttons and links, label every field, write alternative text for images and charts, keep contrast high, never rely on colour alone and respect reduced motion. They check this before they hand work back and say what they checked.

You can ask for more. For example: add captions to this video, give the chart a table of its data, make the text larger, or test this with a keyboard only. If you find something that is not right in what an assistant made, tell it and ask for a fix.

Known gaps

We would rather tell you than hide it. These parts are harder to use than they should be:

  • The 3D office. It is a picture of a room, so it is not fully usable with a screen reader or a keyboard. Its plan view lists the same assistants and tasks as plain text, and everything in the office can be done elsewhere in the app.
  • The workflow canvas. Dragging boxes on a canvas is hard without a mouse. It has an outline view that shows the same steps as a list.
  • The phone app. It follows your phone's own accessibility settings, such as VoiceOver, TalkBack and larger text, but these options are not in it yet.
  • Pages we share outside the app. Lesson links, shared pages and project sites are made by StellarFirm assistants and served on their own addresses. They do not have the options button or the shortcut yet.
  • Desk pets. They are small devices, so their lights and sounds are not part of the website. Everything they report is also in the app.
  • Work made by assistants. An assistant can still make a mistake. If a page, app or document is hard to use, tell the assistant, or tell us.
  • Videos and documents from other places. A video or file that comes from another site, and a video a course creator uploads as a lesson, may have no captions or text version, and we cannot always add them.

Report a barrier

If something stops you using StellarFirm, please tell us. Say what you were trying to do, the page, and what happened. Mention the device, browser and any assistive tool you use. We read every report and reply by email.
