An AI coding agent that waits for your approval before it deploys
StellarFirm's Coder is an AI coding agent that asks before it ships. It works on your own repository in a private workspace, runs the tests and shows you the exact changes. Pushing a branch, opening a pull request and deploying each wait for your Approve, and nothing goes out on its own unless you switch on auto-approve for that kind of step yourself.
How AI coding tools handle approval
| Way | What you do | What you get | Who gives the final go |
|---|---|---|---|
| StellarFirm Coder | Describe the change in chat | Tested changes on a branch, as a draft pull request | You. Push, pull request and deploy wait for Approve |
| An AI coding assistant in your editor | Accept or reject each edit as you work | Edits applied to your local files | You, edit by edit, and you deploy yourself |
| An autonomous coding agent that ships on its own | Hand over a task and wait | A merged or deployed change | The agent, unless you add a gate yourself |
| A developer on your team | Write a ticket and review the pull request | Reviewed work | You, through code review |
How the approval works
1
You describe the change
Tell your CEO assistant what you want. It briefs the Coder, and the Coder asks you when something is vague.
2
The Coder works in private
It clones your repository into its own private workspace, makes the change and runs the tests.
3
You see the exact step
Each step that goes out of the workspace shows on an approval card with the whole of what it would do.
4
You approve or reject
Approve pushes the branch, opens the pull request or deploys. Reject stops it. You can add rules that ask or refuse for more kinds of step.
Available today
The Coder is the AI Agent Assistant available today. Other assistants are planned and are not available yet. StellarFirm runs in your browser, with a desktop app for Mac and Windows in early access. Access starts from the waitlist.
Questions
- Can the Coder deploy without asking?
- Not unless you turn on auto-approve for that kind of step in Settings. The Coder cannot turn it on by itself, and a step that would spend your own money always asks.
- Where do I approve a step?
- In the chat at the step that waits, in the notification bell, and on the Approvals screen. A notification only opens the step. The decision is yours, in the app.
- Where does my code live?
- In your own GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket repository. The Coder clones it into its own private workspace to work on it.
- What does it cost?
- Assistant work uses StellarFirm credits, and new accounts start with free credits. This site does not publish prices.
