On this page
StellarFirm for Chrome puts an AI Agent Assistant in a side panel next to the page you are on. You type a task, and it looks at the page, clicks, types, scrolls and opens pages in your own browser. It works on your StellarFirm account and your credits, with the same Approve rules as the rest of StellarFirm.
It runs in Chrome and other browsers built on the same engine, such as Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera.
Install#
StellarFirm for Chrome is coming to the Chrome Web Store. Until it is listed, ask your StellarFirm contact for the install steps. When it is live, this page will link to the store listing.
After you install it, pin the StellarFirm button to the toolbar. Click it to open the side panel.
- Sign in at stellarfirm.ai/sign-in in the same browser, as you do for the web app.
- Open the side panel. It shows Signed in as and your name.
- If it still says Not signed in, choose I signed in and it checks again.
The extension has no sign-up screen of its own. It uses the account you already have.
Your first task#
- Open the page where the work starts.
- Open the side panel and pick Act or Research.
- Describe the task in plain words, then choose Start (or press Ctrl or Cmd with Enter).
- Watch the steps appear under What it is doing. Choose Stop at any time.
- When it finishes, read the answer. The line under it says which model wrote it and how many credits it used.
With no task running, the panel shows a few tips and example tasks. Choose an example to fill the box, then edit it.
Act or Research#
| Mode | What it does | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Act | Does the task in your browser: clicks, types into fields, picks options, scrolls, and opens pages and tabs. | Filling in a form, working through a settings page, collecting details across a few pages. |
| Research | Reads pages, follows links and opens pages. It never types or submits, and it clicks only on links. Its answer cites sources, shown as links. | Questions, comparisons, summaries, and checking what a page says. |
Model stays on Auto unless you choose one. Auto picks a model that can see screenshots and moves to the next if one is not available.
What asks for Approve#
Most things the assistant does for your task simply run. These wait for you on a card in the side panel that says what it will do, on which site, and why it asks.
| Kind | Examples |
|---|---|
| Sending or publishing | Send, post, reply, comment, share, invite, submit a form, sign up. |
| Money | Pay, order, subscribe, donate, transfer, book, or any step on a page where you pay. |
| Deleting | Delete, remove, erase. |
| Closing | Cancel, close an account, unsubscribe, archive. |
Choose Approve to let that one step run, or Reject and the assistant is told not to try again another way. For sending only, you can also choose Allow sending on this site for this task, which ends when the task ends. Money always asks, every time, and there is no switch to turn that off.
Embedded frames#
The assistant works inside embedded frames too, such as a form or a payment box that a site shows inside its page. The same rules apply there: a Pay button inside an embedded payment box still asks first, and a card field inside one is never typed. When a page has frames it cannot read, the assistant is told how many.
Real clicks and typing#
A few sites ignore the clicks and typing a browser extension sends and only react to a real mouse and keyboard. For those, the panel has a setting called Real clicks and typing, which is off until you turn it on.
When you turn it on, your browser asks for permission. While your assistant works, your browser shows a "StellarFirm started debugging this browser" bar. That is expected, and it goes away when the task ends or you choose Stop.
With the setting on, your assistant tries a normal click first. If nothing on the page changed, it repeats a step that needed no Approve once with real input. Real input follows the same rules as everything else: anything that sends, spends, deletes or closes still waits for your Approve, and it never types a password, a card number, or a code.
What it never types#
The assistant never types a password, a one-time code, a card number, or a security code, and it does not fill fields that your browser marks as a password or a payment card. When it reaches one, it stops and asks you to do that part. Take over, sign in or pay, then start the task again from there.
It also never works on browser pages such as the settings pages, the extensions page, local files, or a browser store, and it only works in tabs of the window where you started the task.
Tips for good tasks#
- Be specific. Say what done looks like: which page, which fields, what result you want back.
- Start on the right page. Open the page where the work begins before you press Start.
- One site at a time. A task that stays on one site is faster and more reliable than one that hops around.
- Use Research for questions. If you only want to know something, Research reads and cites sources without changing anything.
- Watch and Stop. Keep the panel open for new kinds of task. If it goes the wrong way, choose Stop and give a clearer task.
- Take over for logins and payments. Sign in and pay yourself, then hand the page back.
- Treat pages as information. A page can say anything. The assistant treats what a page says as information, never as instructions from you.
Privacy#
The assistant works in the tab you give it. The page text it reads and screenshots of that tab are sent to StellarFirm to run the model on your account, and are used only to do your task. The extension has no analytics, loads no outside scripts, and keeps only your choice of mode, model and Real clicks and typing in your browser. See the privacy policy for the full text, and Privacy and security for how StellarFirm keeps your work private.
Troubleshooting#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Not signed in | Sign in at stellarfirm.ai/sign-in in the same browser, then choose I signed in in the panel. |
| It says you have no credits left | Open Usage from the link in the panel to see your balance. The assistant works again when credits are available. |
| It says a model needs a paid plan | Pick Auto, or a model your plan includes. |
| It says it is not allowed on this page | Browser pages, local files, and stores are off limits. Open a normal website and start again. |
| No model is listed | Check that you are signed in, then close and reopen the panel. Only models that can see screenshots are offered. |
| A site seems to ignore a click | Your assistant says nothing on the page changed. Turn on Real clicks and typing in the panel, then start the task again. |
| It stopped at the step limit | A task has a limited number of steps. Split it into smaller tasks, or start from the page where the work continues. |
