> Let assistants list and read mail and leave replies as drafts. Coming soon: sending always waits for your Approve.

Status: Coming soon

Gmail lets an assistant read your inbox and write replies for you. It leaves each reply as a draft in Gmail, so nothing is sent until you say so.

> [!SOON]
> Gmail is Coming soon. The assistants that use it, other than the Coder, are Coming soon too.

## At a glance

| | |
| --- | --- |
| Category | Mail and calendar |
| Status | Coming soon |
| Used by | Accountant, Marketing, Legal, Product owner (all Coming soon) |

## What assistants can do

| Ability | How it runs |
| --- | --- |
| List and read mail | Reads on its own |
| Create drafts (nothing is sent) | Reads on its own |
| Send a draft | Waits for your Approve |

## Setup (when it opens)

1. In Google's developer console, create access for your Gmail account with the permissions listed below, and copy the access token it gives you.
2. Open [Integrations](https://stellarfirm.ai/app/integrations) and pick **Gmail**.
3. Paste the token and press **Connect**.
4. Leave sending off until you want it. Reading and drafting work without it.

## Permissions

In plain words, the access needs to:

- **Read** your mail (read-only access).
- **Compose** drafts.
- **Send** mail. Add this only if you will allow sending.

If you never allow sending, leave out the send permission and the assistant cannot send at all.

## Good to know

- Sending is off by default. Even when you allow it, every send waits for your Approve, unless your [house rules](/docs/ceo/house-rules) say otherwise for that category.
- The assistant sees only mail the account can see. Use a separate mailbox if you want to limit what it reads.
- Your token stays with your StellarFirm workspace and is never shown back to you. The page shows only that it is connected.
- Drafts appear in Gmail's own Drafts folder, where you can edit them like any other.

## Prompts

```prompt title="Draft a reply"
Marketing, draft a reply to the latest customer mail and leave it as a Gmail draft. Do not send until I Approve.
```

```prompt title="Inbox brief"
Accountant, read my inbox from the last two days and list anything about invoices or payments.
```

```prompt title="Triage"
Legal, find mail from this week that mentions a contract and summarise what each one asks of me.
```
