# Exa

> Let Marketing, Sales, and the Product owner search the web and read pages through Exa. Read only. Coming soon.

Status: Coming soon

Exa is a search engine built for research. Once you connect it, your assistants can find companies, people, and articles on the web, read the pages, and cite each source.

> [!SOON]
> The Exa integration is Coming soon. This page describes how it will work. The integrations open at launch are GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket.

## Which assistants use it

| Assistant | Status |
| --- | --- |
| [Marketing](/docs/personas/marketing) | Coming soon |
| [Sales](/docs/personas/sales) | Coming soon |
| [Product owner](/docs/personas/product-owner) | Coming soon |

## What assistants can do

Exa connects through the tool's own hosted connector, and it is read only.

| Ability | How it runs |
| --- | --- |
| Search the web | Reads on its own |
| Read pages as clean text | Reads on its own |
| Start a long research run | Never run from chat |

## Setup (when it opens)

1. Sign in at dashboard.exa.ai and open the keys page.
2. Create a key. You can give it a spending limit on the same page.
3. Open [Integrations](https://stellarfirm.ai/app/integrations) in StellarFirm and pick Exa.
4. Paste the key, switch on the live option, and press Connect.

## Permissions

- Nothing here waits for an Approve because nothing here changes data.
- Each search uses your Exa plan. The free tier works for trying it.
- Revoke the key in Exa whenever you want to cut access.

## Good to know

- Every fact from the web comes with the address of the page it came from.

## Prompts to try

```prompt title="Prospect news"
Sales, find five recent news stories about [company] and tell me what they mean for our pitch, with the source of each.
```

```prompt title="Market scan"
Product owner, find the companies that launched a product like ours in the last year and list what each one charges for, with links.
```
