# Egnyte

> Let your assistants search and read the governed files in your Egnyte domain. Read only, through Egnyte's own hosted connector. Coming soon.

Status: Coming soon

Egnyte holds the files of companies that care about who can see what. Once you connect it, your assistants can search those files and read them, inside the limits Egnyte already sets.

> [!SOON]
> The Egnyte integration is Coming soon. This page describes how it will work. The integrations open at launch are GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket.

## Which assistants use it

| Assistant | Status |
| --- | --- |
| [Legal](/docs/personas/legal) | Coming soon |
| [Accountant](/docs/personas/accountant) | Coming soon |

Neither of these personas is open yet. The Coder is the only persona available today, and it does not list Egnyte.

## What assistants can do

Egnyte connects through the tool's own hosted connector, and it is read only.

| Ability | How it runs |
| --- | --- |
| Search governed files | Reads on its own |
| Read file contents | Reads on its own |
| Change, move, or share a file | Never run from chat |

## Setup (when it opens)

1. In the Egnyte developer portal, register an app for your domain.
2. Generate an access token for the user the assistants should act as. Choose a user who can see only the folders you want to share.
3. Open [Integrations](https://stellarfirm.ai/app/integrations) in StellarFirm.
4. Pick Egnyte.
5. Paste the token, switch on the live option, and press Connect.

## Permissions

- The assistants read what the chosen Egnyte user can read, under the same folder rules your team already uses.
- Nothing here waits for an Approve because nothing here changes data. Changes to files are never run from chat.
- Revoke the token in Egnyte whenever you want to cut access.

## Good to know

- Egnyte tokens may expire. If the assistants say they cannot reach Egnyte, make a new token and paste it again.
- Ask for the part you need, such as a changelog between two versions of a policy, instead of a full read-out.
- Sibling tools: [Box](/docs/integrations/box) and [Dropbox](/docs/integrations/dropbox) work the same way.

## Prompts to try

```prompt title="Compare policy versions"
Legal, find the current privacy policy draft in Egnyte and list what changed since the last version.
```

```prompt title="Find supporting documents"
Accountant, find the supporting documents for [project] in Egnyte and list each file with its date.
```

```prompt title="Locate a file"
Search Egnyte for [document name] and tell me which folder it is in. Read only.
```
